URC’s MX-3000 IR/RF Touchscreen Remote
By Eric Bruecker
How long have you been a dealer for the manufacturer of this product?Suess Electronics has been a Universal Remote Control dealer for approximately three years.
How do you rate the product’s design?
The MX-3000 is one of the best designs I’ve seen in a touchscreen yet. It is very slim and the hard buttons on either side of the touchscreen are easy to access. The main button on the remote makes it easy for the user to get back to a familiar starting point.
For what types of installations is this product best suited?
The MX-3000 remote is best suited for any installation where the user is concerned about the easiest possible operation of all of their equipment, no matter how simple or complex it may be. It is also well suited for a house that has a lot of different equipment that the homeowner may want to bring together in one simple-to-use remote.
Describe the feature set..
The feature set of the MX-3000 is the most complete of any remote in the market; there really isn’t much it can’t do. It allows for the use of variables, and it also allows the ability to nest variables. This lets the programmer create many unique operations, such as tracking the last device selected so a user could be given a “back” button to return them to where they were before they adjusted the lights in the room from the remote. Imagine a remote with a user selection page so each user can have a completely unique remote designed for him or her.
What features on this model would you like to see changed or added?
As far as future features we would like to see, it’s hard to say exactly because this remote is so feature-packed already. I guess WiFi support would be a nice addition, this would allow us to integrate this remote with even more systems than we do already. Also maybe we’ll see RS-232 support in the future to allow hardwired communication with the many products that support RS-232. Universal Remote Control is a great company to deal with, they listen to our feedback and use it to make their products the best that they can be. Every consumer, installer, and technician has a chance to be heard, and when we speak, they listen to us.
