Internet Sales Warning
A Warning about "Unauthorized" Dealers
URC only sells to a network of authorized dealers that we have trained in specifying, installing and programming URC components. By purchasing URC product from an unauthorized dealer, we cannot support, guarantee or warranty any product they sell.
Unsure about buying URC product from an unauthorized internet dealer? Ask yourself these questions.
Q: Will the product that I purchase have a warranty?
A: If it is an unauthorized dealer, no.
Q: It's the same product that an authorized dealer would sell me, right?
A: Maybe. URC has made purchases from unauthorized internet dealers and we have received product with serial numbers removed (which is a felony in a lot of states), used product and even damaged product. Do you want to take that risk?
Q: I can program the URC component myself, why do I need an authorized dealer?
A: Our authorized dealers have years of custom audio and video installation experience and have been trained extensively on programming URC components. URC invest heavily in educating our dealers and programmers to ensure your complete satisfaction with URC automation.
Q: I still believe that I can program it myself, how do I get the programming software?
A: Due to the complexity of URC components and its programming, we do not include a programming manual or software with our product. URC does not distribute its software publicly. Any unauthorized dealer who claims that they can supply you with the programming software has probably stolen it. We train authorized URC dealers directly in order to ensure the best experience for you the customer.
Q: But I am buying it from an Internet Dealer that has a great reputation, so I can buy with confidence, right?
A: First check to see who you are really purchasing it from. Many of the larger internet retailers have allowed "partners" to sell on their sites. Click on the dealers "about us" button. Do they have a phone number or address to call them when you have questions? No? Why not? If they do show an address try looking it up on the internet. Try sites like Google Earth and then click "street view." Most of the time you will be surprised and see either a residential home or post office in place of an actual business. Is this where you want to send your money or to go and ask for support on programming?
