URC Introduces Two-Device Remote for Digital-to-Analog Converter Boxes

The Pioneer in Control Technology unveils the UR2-DTA; also shows its UR5-9000L and UR3-SR4 remotes for the first time to Cable Show attendees.

Los Angeles The Cable Show 2010 Booth 753 May 11-13, 2010 Universal Remote Control, Inc. (URC), The Pioneer in Control Technology, today unveiled the brand-new UR2-DTA Remote Control. It will also show its UR5-9000L and UR3-SR4 remotes to Cable Show attendees for the first time.

URC is looking to eliminate the commoditization of the set-top box remote control, said Bill Baker, vice president, national accounts with URC. The remote control is the manifestation of a cable operators interaction with its subscribers. URCs breadth and depth of knowledge in control systems is extremely beneficial as operators work to differentiate their services. As set-top box technology continues to evolve, an innovative control partner will become increasingly important to operators. URC clearly is that partner.

The UR2-DTA, shown for the first time here, is specifically designed to operate Digital-to-Analog converter boxes, which many operators have rolled out as temporary solutions for reclaiming bandwidth. Typical OEM remote controls for these installations commonly only operate the converter box. The UR2-DTA is an efficient two-device remote that is specifically intended for use with a Digital-to-Analog converter and a television set.

The UR5-9000L Series is a five-device remote control with a balanced feel that fits comfortably in the subscribers hand. Its intuitive button layout provides effortless navigation of on-screen menus. The UR3-SR4 Series is a three-device large-button remote that features die cut numeric keys for easy identification. Each is available in Upgradeable and Learning versions.

The world's leading cable and subscription broadcast providers rely on URC for their remote control needs. URC understands the rigorous household demands that can be placed on cable or satellite set-top box remote controls, and manufactures its products to meet the highest standards. URC matches its superior manufacturing and quality control with advanced programming features to enhance the user experience.
